The controller of your data is David Vílchez Sánchez, developer of Vínculo (Spain). You can write at any time to vilchi78deia@gmail.com.
Vínculo needs an account because its purpose is to share information between an older person and their family, on different devices. This is the data it stores:
| Data | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Email and password | Creating your account and signing in. The password is stored encrypted; nobody can see it. |
| Your name | Showing it to your family in the app and in alerts (“Carmen has pressed the help button”). |
| Language and time zone | Sending notifications, texts and calls in your language, and working out the daily check-in time where you live. |
| Trusted contacts (name, phone number, relationship) | Alerting those people, in order, when there is an alert. You add them yourself; we don’t access your iPhone’s contacts. |
| Daily “I’m OK” check-ins and alerts | Knowing whether you have confirmed you are OK today and, if not, letting your family know. The date and time of each check-in and alert are stored. |
| Location and phone battery level | Showing your family whether you are at home and how much battery your phone has left and, when you press “I need help”, sending them where you are along with the alert (by text, your contacts get a map link). It is only read while the app is open, with your iOS “while using the app” permission. Vínculo never tracks your location in the background. |
| Your home location | Only if you choose to save it, to compare and show “at home” or “away from home”. |
| Medicines, doses, times and doses taken | Reminding you to take each dose on time and letting your family see whether it has been taken (PRO feature). This is health data: only members of your family circle can see it. |
| Device identifier for notifications | Sending alerts to your iPhone (including critical alerts, if you allow them). |
| Subscription status | Knowing whether your account is on the free, PRO or family plan. |
The legal basis is providing the service you request by using the app and, for health data (medication), your explicit consent when you enter it. You can withdraw it by deleting those medicines or your account.
To work, Vínculo relies on these services, which process data only on Vínculo’s behalf and for the purposes described:
Where a provider is outside the EU, the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
If you turn on Face ID to open the app, recognition is done by iOS on your own iPhone. Vínculo never receives or stores your face or any biometric data; it only receives a “yes” or “no”.
Your data is kept while you have an account. If you delete it, your data is permanently erased at that moment, except for anything the law requires to be kept (for example, billing data held by Apple).
You can delete your account and all your data from within the app, at any time. You can also request it by writing to vilchi78deia@gmail.com. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription: to do that, go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
You can access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its processing, or ask for a copy (portability) by writing to vilchi78deia@gmail.com. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or to the data protection authority in your country.
Vínculo is designed for adults and their families. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect their data.
Vínculo helps your family know that you are OK, but it is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (999 or 112 in the UK and Ireland, 911 in the US and Canada, 000 in Australia).
If this policy changes, the date above will be updated and, if the change is significant, you will be told in the app.
